Charlies Gelato is more than an ice cream shop. We’re considered an institution in Matakana. Locals and tourists alike flock to Charlies to enjoy the gelato, sorbetto and seasonal fresh produce, made and grown on site.
Sit for a while to enjoy freshly roasted coffee and home baking in our cafe. From December to February, stop by for our Italian-style wood-fired pizzas which can be enjoyed in our tranquil garden setting, and keep an eye on our socials for cheeky updates or pizza pop-up weekends throughout the rest of the year.
We make all of our award-winning gelato and sorbetto the same way the Italians do: from scratch, in very small batches. (Watch our video below.) Over the past 10 years we’ve been developing a range of delectable new flavours in addition to the ‘old favourites’. With at least 40 flavours on display, the hardest part of your visit will be trying to choose which one to have!
